brandsampler.ca

It's like Christmas in April! Brandsampler is up again! Proctor & Gamble (P&G) run a program a couple of times a year where you can get free P&G product samples. You register with their site, answer a few questions, and they send you samples of their products. Between you and me (and the entire net!) if you select "store brand" as your choice they usually send you a bigger assortment of samples.

I already ordered mine and it rocks!!

Enjoy!

thinkcoupons.ca

I'm gonna plug thinkcoupons.ca again.

www.thinkcoupons.ca

It's basically a database of coupons that you can print or order online. Save.ca is amazing, but often you can "see" every coupon available because you have to go to the manufacture's website first. Teh Johnson&Johnson baby coupons are an example (you can get a coupon for children's tylenol there too). If you use thinkcoupons.ca you'll find the links to all kinds of coupons including some that you can print at home!

This database is Canadian. A lot of them out there are American. American coupons are no good here. So make sure when doing any print at home coupons that they are valid in Canada.

Score of the Week

I can't say that this week's sales have me particularly excited.

This week a baby flyer came in the mail. There is the usual so-so deals involving huge packs of diapers and wipes (I find those deals only so-so cause they are never sale price and with sales and coupons you can do better). There was also some formula and baby food type sales and coupons. The only thing that caught my eye was Heinz baby cereal for $2.99 and a coupon for buy 2 get 1 free! I wish you could combine their coupons with manufacture coupons (if you subscribe to the Heinz baby program they send you Heinz cereal and baby food coupons). Using manufacture coupons with it would make it spectacular. A girl can dream....

I shouldn't say that was the only thing that caught my eye. $5.49 for children's tylenol is a decent price. You can use your $1.50 off children's tylenol or $2 off any tylenol from calling company.

Shoppers has a promotion on this weekend spend $50 get a $10 Tim Horton's Gift Card. Spending $50 at SDM is not that hard. Their milk is actually cheaper. Once you buy some milk, eggs, bread, and any other basics, you are pretty close to $30. Add a few things on sale and presto! Course if you are just buying to get the gift card, you aren't really saving now are you? Their Sun-Mon deals all involve baby items. Don't forget to use your save.ca or Johnson&Johnson $1 off (when you call the company see previous blog) when picking up any J&J baby items on sale this week.

Otherwise, I have to say the sale flyers weren't that exciting this week. Anyone find any great deals? Walmart doesn't have flyers so their deals are "secret"!

Me and my vacuum sealer

Alright, people are going to mock me, but yes I have one of those vacuum sealer things. I love it. Best investment in grocery budgeting EVER! I can buy things in huge packs and just seal them up in smaller packages. Extra Foods often has their meat at 30% as it nears its best before date. You can buy a huge club back of chicken or beef, save 30%, take it home and divide it up into smaller portions and freeze it. I've done it with other staples (grocery staples not stapler staples!) too. Raisins come out fresh as ever months later! It's paid for itself over and over again. I think Canadian Tire sells them.

Baby Formula and Coupons

Did you know that the formula manufactures will send you samples of formula, diaper bags, bottles, coupons, ect....all kinds of awesome goodies. Nestle and Heinz also sends you coupons and cereal when your babe is older.

Similac:

Nestle:

Nestle also sends you a great little backpack style diaper bag!

Enfamil:

A great way to try out the different formulas if you so choose and also get some great coupons mailed right to you.

I have a couple of cans that I got that I won't use since we found a formula we are happy with. Anyone know who accepts donations of formula in YK? The foodbank? Center for Northern Families?

Score of the Week v2

Walmart had an even better deal today. Scottie tissue paper 9pack is on for $6.87. It's on display near the furniture section (as opposed to with the other kleenex).

There was some serious shoppers at Canadian Tire this weekend. The Royale was all sold out by 9am when I got there!

Making coupons work for you

This Saturday was 20x the Optimum point at Shoppers Drug Mart. You get points on the amount before coupons (if they are $ off coupons, not free product coupons). This Saturday I used something like $20 in coupons. $20 in coupons was worth 4000pts on Saturday; so I got 4000 points without paying that $20 out of my pocket. On a bonus redemption day (where you get $200 off when redeeming 75,000pts instead of the usual $150) 1000 Optimum points is worth $2.67. So the 4000 points I got on my coupons is worth $10.67 in products on bonus redemption day.

Bottom line I saved $20 and I'll get $10.67 worth of free stuff on the next redemption day. $30.67 in my pocket just for using coupons. That ain't so shabby!

Walmart deals

At Walmart today, they had 6pk of Kleenex on for $5.97. They also had Johnson&Johnson Bedtime WASH for $2. Use your $1 coupon you get from calling the company every month and you get 444ml of wash for $1. How can you go wrong with that?

They also had some girls clothes on clearance near the front. Got some pjs for $1!

Score of the Week

Canadian Tire has Royale TP on sale again. $4.88 this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Don't forget your $1 gocoupon.ca coupons. Canadian Tire tends to interpret the "one per purchase" thing wrong. So be prepared for them to enter each coupon one transaction at a time!

Extra Foods has a tax free day Saturday and Sunday. Since we don't have PST here, it tends to be a double the tax savings. It's a great time to use any coupons for free stuff you have (like the ones off the cereal boxes). Also to stock up on essentials.

I saw Walmart had some Kellogg's cereal with the coupon for the free cereal on it. Buy a box and you get a free box! Pretty awesome deal!

And of course the best score of the week....20x the points this Saturday at Shoppers Drug Mart when you spend $50. This $50 before your cents off coupons. Don't forget your $10 diaper coupon when you spend $40 on baby items.

This Saturday at SDM the Old Spice deodorant is $1.49 use your save $3 when you buy 2 to get them for free!!! (coupon from brandsaver.ca) or your $1 coupon on any old spice. Also great deals on Gillett. Good time to use your save $5 off 3 Gillett products. No more stinky men in Yellowknife! ;)

See you bright and early at Shoppers on Saturday!

Shoppers Drug Mart 20x points event AGAIN! April 17

Shoppers is having a 20x times the points event AGAIN!! It's this Saturday April 17 ONLY!

Plus when you spend $40 in baby items you'll get a $10 diaper gift card!

I'll discuss this more later. But I owe props to my friends on smartcanucks.ca for the head's up on the last 2 offers!

Free Razor

Venus has a promotion on their site. When you complete the "game" you get a free Venus Embrace Razor. I love free razors. They are so expensive. Save.ca used to have $4 off Embrace (and it goes on sale at Extra Foods for $6.99 regularly) but I haven't seen the $4 in a long time (just $4 off the men's fusion razor). But if you want a free razor check it out. Quantities are limited so rush on over!

Coupons at SDM

Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) has quite a few coupons around their products. My favorite right now is the $2 off large advil. And it's good until 2011!!! It's bound to go on sale again before then!

Brandsaver

Proctor & Gamble (P&G) has released new coupons. $140 worth of coupons to use on their products. You select the ones you can use and they send them to you!

Free Diaper Sample

Clearly, I'm on a diaper streak right now....

Here's a free sample of the new Pampers with Dry Max. It comes with a $3 coupon too!

http://www.pampers.ca/en_CA/Cruisers-sample

Clearance Diapers

Club pack diapers are still on sale at Extra Foods. The mega packs (the ones in a plastic bag) of swaddlers and cruisers without the new Dry Max are on for $11.94. It's not advertised, but I think it's to clear out to make room for the new Dry Max Pamper Diapers.

Walmart has the same thing, only it's $13.

I still think a club pack at $28.88 (with a $2 or $3 coupon is a better deal).

Post holiday sell-off

Well, it's that time again....the post holiday (Easter) sell off. I was in Walmart today and they have only a little left. Everything Easter is 50%. I picked up some playdough eggs. These things are amazing for keeping in your purse or for the airplane. The are compact, travel size and can entertain for hours!

Free Mars Bar Promo

Okay, I've been slacking in the last little bit. Life got in the way...but have no fear here's a deal for you!

Mars is giving away a coupon for a free Mars bar. It requires a save.ca account. Free chocolate anyone?
